HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. G.
4 Richard Locke of Decatur, who passed away on August 29, 2009;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, He was born on January 12, 1937 in Youngstown,
7 Ohio; he attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana
8 where he met Judy Blang; they both graduated from DePauw and
9 were married August 2, 1958; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He received his M.D. from Western Reserve
11 University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was
12 Alpha Omega Alpha and then trained in Radiology at the
13 University of Iowa; after serving in the United States Army
14 from 1966 to 1968, the Lockes moved to Decatur; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Dr. Locke came to Decatur Memorial Hospital to
16 bring cancer care to the community and was later the Chairman
17 of the Department of Radiology at the hospital until his
18 retirement in 2002; he was a Fellow in the American College of
19 Radiology and served on the Board of Trustees of DePauw
20 University and Millikin University; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Dr. Locke is survived by his wife, Judy Locke; his

1 four sons, Giles Richard Locke III M.D. (Jean), Jonathan Locke
2 M.D. (Kathy), Mark Locke M.D. (Sarah), and J. Michael Locke
3 J.D., M.B.A. (Heather); his 14 grandchildren, Katherine and
4 Giles Richard Locke IV (Chip), Madeline, Emily, Anna, Jack,
5 Elllie, Charles, Henry, William, J. Michael (Skip), Catherine,
6 Caroline, and Graham; and his sisters, Jane Thompson (Jim) and
7 Helen Layden (Jim); therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr. G.
11 Richard Locke; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Dr. G. Richard Locke as a symbol of
14 our sincere sympathy.
