HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the pastor and congregation of the Clinton Assembly of God Church on the 75th anniversary of the church; and

WHEREAS, The anniversary celebration was held on Sunday, August 16, 2009 with a day-long special event with an emphasis on "Seventy-Five Years Toward Eternity"; and

WHEREAS, The church was organized in April of 1934 with 34 charter members; the current church was built in the early 1970s; and

WHEREAS, Three of the former pastors, Reverend Clifford DePrenger, Reverend Sam Leroy Thompson, and Reverend Anita Livingood spoke to the congregation at the special service; also in attendance was Illinois Assembly of God Superintendent Reverend Larry Griswold and Clinton Mayor Ed Wollet; and

WHEREAS, Special music was provided by the adult and children's choirs at the morning service; videos were shown, letters were read by those unable to attend, and the day was filled with expectations for the future; and

WHEREAS, A luncheon was held following the morning's events; the afternoon service featured associate pastors from the past, including Steve Livingood, Larry Nuttal, Don Hutchins, and Bob Meschnark; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the pastor and congregation of the Clinton Assembly of God Church on this momentous occasion and wish them continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Pastor Dan Bell as a symbol of our sincere respect and esteem.
