HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Kevin Hartmann on his recent heroism that resulted in the life of a young boy being saved; and

WHEREAS, On November 19, 2009, Kevin Hartmann responded to a fire at a home in Elgin; a mother alerted him to her young son still being in the residence and Hartmann entered the burning structure; and

WHEREAS, He found the 2-year-old boy in his highchair with smoke above the boy's head; he grabbed the toddler and rushed him outside to the waiting arms of a paramedic; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Hartmann previously served as a police officer in Joliet and is credited with administering CPR and saving the life of a baby boy who had fallen head first into a bucket of Pine Sol and bleach; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Hartmann was recently honored by the Watch City Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1037 for his bravery; and

WHEREAS, He has served with the Elgin Fire Department for the last two years; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Kevin Hartmann for his heroism and bravery; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Kevin Hartmann as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
