1     AN ACT concerning education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Critical Health Problems and Comprehensive
5 Health Education Act is amended by adding Section 3.5 as
6 follows:
 
7     (105 ILCS 110/3.5 new)
8     Sec. 3.5. Nutrition and physical activity best practices
9 database.
10     (a) The State Board of Education shall develop and maintain
11 a nutrition and physical activity best practices database. The
12 database shall contain the results of any wellness-related
13 fitness testing done by local school districts, as well as
14 information on successful programs and policies implemented by
15 local school districts designed to improve nutrition and
16 physical activity in the public and charter schools. This
17 information may include (i) a description of the program or
18 policy, (ii) advice on implementation, (iii) any assessment of
19 the program or policy, (iv) a contact person from the local
20 school district, and (v) any other information the State Board
21 of Education deems appropriate. The database shall be readily
22 accessible to all local school districts Statewide. The State
23 Board of Education shall encourage local school districts to

1 submit information to the database, however no school district
2 shall be required to submit information.
3     (b) The State Board of Education may adopt rules necessary
4 for administration of this Section.
5     (c) The requirements of the State Board of Education to
6 establish this database shall become effective once the State
7 Board of Education has secured all of the funding necessary to
8 implement it.
 
9     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1,
10 2010.
