SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Helen Louise Sankey-Campbell, who passed away on November 17, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Helen Sankey-Campbell was born on October 21, 1945, in Chicago; her parents were the late Perry and Louise Sankey; she met and married the late Obadiah Campbell Jr. in February of 1965; and

WHEREAS, Helen Sankey-Campbell accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Canaan Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. E.E. Franklin; she graduated from Parker High School and attended Kennedy-King College; and

WHEREAS, Helen Sankey-Campbell was a dedicated employee of the Chicago Police Department until her retirement after 33 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Helen Sankey-Campbell was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Zelma; and

WHEREAS, Helen Sankey-Campbell is survived by her daughters, Terri Coleman (Steven) and Toya Campbell-Darrow (Alonzo); her grandchildren, Toya Louise Campbell and Malcolm X Darrow; her brother, Perry Sankey Jr. (Willieme); her sisters, Arlind Sankey and Verdell Sankey; her uncle, James Sankey (Desiree); her aunts, Geraldine Hooks, Zelma Durant, and Artie Lou Matsey; and her many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Helen Louise Sankey-Campbell; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Helen Sankey-Campbell as an expression of our sympathy.
