| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of Helen Rose Kessler of Bethalto, who | 4 |
| passed away on January 7, 2009; and
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, She was born on January 27, 1917, in Pueblo, | 6 |
| Colorado, the daughter of Rufus E. and Helen M. (Woods) Craig; | 7 |
| she married Joseph D. Kessler on May 26, 1934 in Salem; and
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, She worked at Bethalto High School for 12 years | 9 |
| and at Frankie's Sewing and Alteration at Wilshire Village in | 10 |
| East Alton; she was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in | 11 |
| Godfrey, a Sunday school teacher and choir member at Concordia | 12 |
| Lutheran Church in Cottage Hills, and had been a member of | 13 |
| Senior Citizens and Tops Club in Bethalto since 1972; and
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Helen Kessler was preceded in death by her | 15 |
| husband, Joseph; her parents; her three sons, Jon, Joseph, and | 16 |
| James; and her two brothers, Kenneth and Ned Craig; and
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Helen Kessler is survived by her daughters, Anna | 18 |
| B. Shaw and Beverly J. Miller; her sons and daughters-in-law, | 19 |
| Gary D. and Janice Kessler and Phillip E. and Deborah Kessler; | 20 |
| her grandchildren, Joseph N. Kessler, Maria Dalton, Shari | 21 |
| Yates, Cynthia Cervera, Jon Kessler, Joseph D. Kessler, Alissa |

| Dawson, Cory Kessler, and Rayna Kessler; her nine | 2 |
| great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Judith Kessler; and | 3 |
| her sister, Martha J. Wiegel; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL | 5 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 6 |
| her family and friends, the passing of Helen Rose Kessler; and | 7 |
| be it further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 9 |
| presented to the family of Helen Rose Kessler as a symbol of | 10 |
| our sincere sympathy.
