SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Joseph W. Hubbard of O'Fallon, who passed away on April 9, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Joseph W. Hubbard was born April 3, 1926 in O'Fallon; he graduated from O'Fallon Township High School in 1944; after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and fought during World War II, receiving several medals; after returning from the war, he married Betty Whitehead in June of 1947; and

WHEREAS, He served as a Justice of the Peace for 8 years, Alderman from 1969 to 1977, and a Township Trustee from 1957 to 1977 and 2005 to the present; and

WHEREAS, He was a founding and charter member of the O'Fallon Jaycees; as a Jaycee, he helped start O'Fallon's first little league baseball league, as well as coached for many years; he was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of O'Fallon, a member of the O'Fallon Sesquicentennial Committee, a 50-year member of the Masons, Scottish Rite and Shriners, a lifetime member of both the O'Fallon Sportsman Club and American Legion, a charter and founding member of both the Shiloh Valley Bassmasters and O'Fallon Bass Casters, a member of the O'Fallon YMCA and O'Fallon Senior Citizens Club, and he was the 2007 O'Fallon Chamber of Commerce Recipient Award for Volunteerism; he was also self-employed as an owner and salesman for Air Hydraulics in St. Louis, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Joseph Hubbard was preceded in death by his parents Joseph E. and Mary G., nee Campbell, Hubbard.; and

WHEREAS, He is survived by his loving wife, of nearly 62 years, Betty Jane, nee Whitehead, Hubbard; his two sons, Craig (Claudia) Hubbard and Eric (Debbie) Hubbard; his four grandchildren, Joele (Ken) Pinkerton, Lauren Hubbard, Nathan (Autymn) Hubbard, and Emilee Hubbard; his great-granddaughter, Kailee Hubbard; and numerous cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Joseph Hubbard; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joseph Hubbard as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
