SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jesse Pender Jr. of Chicago, who passed away on July 30, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Jesse Pender Jr. was born on January 7, 1951 in Memphis, Tennessee, to Jessie B. and Bethsaida Pender, the eldest son of eleven children; and

WHEREAS, He confessed his love for Christ at the age of 14; he attended DuSable High School and loved playing basketball; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Brenda Pender; and

WHEREAS, Jesse Pender Jr. is survived by his daughters, Nyisha (Andre) Roberts-Francois and Nakeara (Toy II) Wilborn-Slaughter; his grandchildren, Calendula, Andre II, Porcha, Aaron, Natoya, and Toy III; his brothers and sisters, Elizabeth (Willie) Coleman, David (Genice) Pender, Linda (Anthony) Shabazz, Edna (Odell) Fort, Martha (Edward) Smith, Larry (Georgetta) Pender, Carolyn (Sam) Young, John (Kim-deceased) Pender, and Paul (Wendy) Pender; his aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Jesse Pender Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jesse Pender Jr. as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
