SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Berniece Eileen Tonsor of Jerseyville, who passed away on December 22, 2009; and

WHEREAS, She was born in Richwood Township in Jersey County on March 12, 1928, one of five daughters born to the late John and Sophia (Ontis) Skinner; she was a graduate of Jersey Township High School, where she was voted by her classmates as the girl with the "most beautiful tresses"; and

WHEREAS, She married John Robert Tonsor on April 17, 1948, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fieldon and the two shared 30 years together before his sudden death on July 25, 1978; and

WHEREAS, After her husband passed away she became a caregiver to elderly people in their homes; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son-in-law, John Stafford; and her two sisters, Doris Harvey and Thelma Watts; and

WHEREAS, Berniece Tonsor is survived by her children and their spouses, Cindy and Neal Wittman, Joan and Jim Withers, Patty and Bill Kuebrich, JR and Pam Tonsor, Phillip and Becky Tonsor, Tina and Mike Bennett, Fran and Larry Bear, DeeDee Tonsor, and Missy and Jeff Davis; her grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Pam Wittman, Jennifer and John Lyles, Briana and Brian Jackson, Sarah and Clarence Grebner, Tony Kuebrich, Paul Kuebrich, Brad and Wendy Tonsor, Barry Tonsor, Erin Tonsor, Bobby Tonsor, Josh and Mindy Tonsor, Jenny and Kevin Macias, Jessie Tonsor and her fiance, Jason Ray, Justin Tonsor, Kevin and Bernadette Bennett, Matt Bennett, Adam Bennett and his fiance, Keegan Thompson, P.J. Bennett, Lauren Davis, Trevor Davis, and Morgan Davis; her great-grandchildren, Shelby and Veronica Wittman, Logan Lyles, Hannah and Hailey Tonsor, Jackson Tonsor, Lucy and Jude Bennett, Jack and Drew Macias, Ava Tonsor, Margaret Grebner, and two due in February; her step-grandchildren, Brian and his wife, Lori Withers, Eric Withers, and Blake Withers; her step-great-grandchildren, Alex and Cameron Withers and Peyton Withers; her sisters, Mary Schloman and Betty Ritter; and her mother-in-law, Ceil Groppel; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Berniece Tonsor; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Berniece Tonsor as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
