SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Shirley E. Fish of Joliet; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Fish was a lifelong contributor to her hometown community of Joliet through various charitable works for the Joliet Jewish Congregation and the Holocaust Education Program in area schools; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Fish was a voracious reader and a passionate thinker; at the age of 82, she enrolled in a doctoral program at the Spertus College of Judaica Studies; she and her husband visited over 70 countries; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Fish was the beloved daughter of the late Sophie Shaler; the sister of the late Martin Aronowitz; the best friend and wife of Louis; the devoted and involved mother of Raymond (Andi) Fish, Paul (Tessy) Fish, Elaine (Michael) Janks, Ronald (Linda) Fish, and Deborah Hill; the adored grandmother of Brad Fish, Lisa (Randall) Roddy, Ryan (Kim) Smith, David (Dana) Fish, Isaac, Aarlo, Hugh, and Avery Stone Fish, and Jacob Hill; and the loving great-grandmother of Taison and Hudson Roddy, Ben, Abby and Nate Fish, and Natalie and Nicky Smith; and

WHEREAS, Shirley Fish will be remembered by all who knew and loved her for her warmth, generosity of spirit, piercing intellect, and interest in the well-being of other people; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Shirley E. Fish; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Shirley Fish as an expression of our sympathy.
