SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles E. "Gene" Krause of Galesburg, who passed away April 22, 2010; and

WHEREAS, He was born August 13, 1929, the son of Charles F. and Edith Schadel Krause of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin; he married Shirley Chisman on June 16, 1951, in Ottumwa, Iowa; and

WHEREAS, He graduated from Sun Prairie High School in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, and Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa; he followed up with graduate work at the University of Iowa; and

WHEREAS, He taught high school English and dramatics at Radcliffe, Iowa, and Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and was a longtime teacher of those subjects in Galesburg District 205; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the Kiwanis and the Knox County Retired Teachers Association, and an honorary member of the Knox College Fifty Year Club; he was a volunteer, teaching the Rules of the Road class for many years for the State of Illinois; he was past president of Galesburg Retired Teachers and was on the Newman School Board; he also was a member of the First United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, Charles E. "Gene" Krause is survived by his wife, Shirley; his two sons, Charles F. "Rick" Krause and Paul (and Charlotta) Krause; his daughter, Karen (and Michael) Carrigan; his four grandchildren and his stepgrandson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Charles Krause; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Krause as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
