SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Timothy Michael Ash, who passed away on April 19, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Ash was born on January 29, 1952; his parents were Mary L. McFarlin and William T. Newell; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Ash attended Du Sable High School and later graduated from Wayne High School; he then earned an Associate of Science degree from San Diego Mesa College and an Associate of Technology degree from Illinois Technical College; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Ash served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Navy; after enlisting in 1971, he received schooling and training at the Great Lakes Naval Base and the U.S. Naval Service School in Orlando, Florida; during his tour of duty, he was stationed in Japan as an Advanced Undersea weaponsman and Relations Officer; he was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1975; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Ash accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior through song in the Junior Choir at the Bethel, M.B. Church in Chicago; he also enjoyed working at the Prince of Peace Church in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Ash was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Ash; his sister, Marguerite Ash; his grandmother, Louise T. Royston; his grandfathers, Alzada Kendall and Chester Baker; his uncle, Napoleon Ash; his stepfathers, Milton Alexander Sr. and Carver McFarlin; and his father-in-law, John T. Conley; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Ash is survived by his wife, Joyce Conley-Ash; his daughter, Jessica M. Ash; his parents; his step-father, George Ratliff; his mother-in-law, Gwendolyn J. Conley; his brothers, Timothy W. Ash (Regina), Joseph Ash (Joyce), and Milton Alexander Jr.; his sisters, Jamesetta L. Ash, Louise T. Alexander, and Sharon B. McFarlin; and his many nephews, nieces, and other family members; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Timothy Michael Ash; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Timothy Ash as an expression of our sympathy.
