SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Deborah Mae Kirwan, who passed away on
4 April 22, 2010; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Deborah Kirwan was born in Oak Park; she grew up
6 in Lincolnwood and graduated from Niles West High School in
7 Skokie in 1974; in 1978, she earned her bachelor's degree in
8 education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign;
9 while there, she met her future husband, Jim; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Deborah Kirwan taught for a few years at Fairview
11 South School in Skokie before joining the faculty at Hinsdale
12 South High School in 1982, where she taught physical education
13 for 4 years; during that time, she also received her master's
14 degree in guidance counseling from Concordia University in
15 River Forest; and
 
16     WHEREAS, After leaving the teaching field for 6 years to be
17 a stay-at-home mom to her two daughters, Deborah Kirwan
18 accepted a position in the guidance department at Hinsdale
19 Central in 1992; in 2000, she became a counselor at Hinsdale
20 South High School; in 2006, she was named the director of
21 guidance at Hinsdale South; and

1     WHEREAS, Deborah Kirwan received the Professional
2 Excellence Award from the Hinsdale South High School Teachers
3 Association in 2007; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Deborah Kirwan is survived by her beloved husband,
5 Jim Kirwan; her daughters, Tara and Jenna; her parents, William
6 and Shirley Womer; her brother, William R. Womer; and her
7 sister, Barbara Zielinski; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 her family and friends, the passing of Deborah Mae Kirwan; and
11 be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Deborah Kirwan as an expression of
14 our sympathy.
