SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Arthur M. Johnson of Virden, who passed away on May 30, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Johnson was born May 23, 1916, in Manson, Iowa, the son of John and Clara (Wendt) Johnson; on September 26, 1948, he married Audrey Peers in Manson; he was a graduate of Manson High School; and

WHEREAS, He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army; after the war he farmed for many years in Iowa; Mr. Johnson then worked as custodian for Manson High School until he retired; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Johnson was a member of the American Legion; he enjoyed sports, fishing, and traveling; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his four brothers, George, August, Richard, and Chris Johnson; and his sister, Marie Kirchoff; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Johnson is survived by his wife, Audrey Johnson; his daughter, Sally Johnson; his two grandsons, Justin Johnson and Jason Johnson; his two great-grandsons; his great-granddaughter; his two great-great-granddaughters; and his two nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Arthur Johnson; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Arthur Johnson as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
