SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond Edward Holloway, Village Clerk of Romeoville, who passed away on August 19, 2010; and

WHEREAS, He was the oldest of 10 children; he joined the United States Marine Corps after high school and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan; he was a veteran of the Vietnam War; and he was a 2-year member of the American Legion; and

WHEREAS, Raymond and his wife, Bernice, moved to Romeoville in 2001; they previously resided in Maywood, where they raised 2 sons; and

WHEREAS, He was elected to the position of Village Clerk in May of 2005 and again in May of 2009; he retired from the Valley View U365 School District as the Transportation Education Coordinator; he also assisted the Transportation Department in conducting workshops and training sessions focusing on bus driver safety; and he proudly served on the Transportation Improvement Committee; and

WHEREAS, Prior to his work with the Valley View School District, he served for over 30 years in a transportation-related series of careers, from driving in the Marine Corps to handling 18-wheel semi trucks; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Raymond Holloway; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Raymond Holloway as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
