SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raymond Vincent "Ray" Watt, who passed away on June 26, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Ray Watt was born to Raymond Henry and Mary (Egerton) Watt on August 28, 1930; he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Ray Watt was a 75-year member of the Carpenter's Union Local 47/97; he was also an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, Ray Watt was very excited to participate in a recent Honor Flight; he was always willing to help anyone with a carpentry project; he especially enjoyed fishing at Table Rock Lake and fishing trips to Canada with his son, Ray; and

WHEREAS, Ray Watt was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Palecek and her husband, Al Palecek; and

WHEREAS, Ray Watt was the beloved husband of Catherine Rocco Watt for nearly 68 years; the dear father of Ray (Trudy) Watt, Tom (Margaret) Watt, Teresa (Tom) Carroll, and Tim (Nancy) Watt; the proud grandfather of Ray (Lena VanMeeteren) Watt, Elizabeth (Chris) Wiegert, Michelle (Aaron Docter) Watt, Thomas (Bridget) Watt, Amanda (Thomas) Herbst, John Carroll, and Brian Carroll; the proud great-grandfather of Luca Watt, Lucy Wiegert, William Wiegert, and Brian Wiegert; and the cherished friend to many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Raymond Vincent "Ray" Watt and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ray Watt as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
