SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Merwin W. "Mert" Klawonn of rural
4Cambridge, who passed away on August 18, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Merwin Klawonn was born in Moline to Ivan W. and
6LaVanna (Stender) Klawonn on August 10, 1947; he was raised
7and educated in Cambridge and graduated from Cambridge High
8School in 1965; he attended electronics school in Des Moines,
9Iowa; he served in the U.S. Army; he married Jacquelyn "Jacki"
10Clark in Cambridge on June 5, 1976; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Merwin Klawonn farmed in the Cambridge area for
12his entire life until retiring in 2009; he served as the sexton
13of the Andover Township Cemetery for 26 years, retiring in
142022; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Merwin Klawonn's memberships included Andover
16American Legion Post #465 and the National Farmers
17Organization; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Merwin Klawonn was preceded in death by his wife,
19Jacki; his parents; and his brother, Veryl Klawonn; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Merwin Klawonn is survived by his son and

1daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Kelsey Klawonn; his brother,
2Gaylen Klawonn; and nieces, nephews, and a special cousin,
3Gary Klawonn; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Merwin W. "Mert" Klawonn and extend our sincere condolences to
7his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Merwin Klawonn as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
