SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jeffrey T. "Jeff" Hawotte of Rock Island, who passed away on December 3, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Hawotte was born to William "Bill" and Karen Kay Hawotte in Moline on November 21, 1965; he graduated from Moline High School; he served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California before being honorably discharged and returning to the Quad cities; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Hawotte worked at a few local businesses before he opened his own cleaning company, Cleaning by Jeff, which he owned and operated for over ten years; and

WHEREAS, Jeff loved spending time going on walks and enjoying nature; he was a huge movie fan, especially of the Star Wars franchise of which he had an extensive memorabilia collection; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Hawotte was preceded in death by his sister, Lynn Hawotte, and two grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Jeff Hawotte is survived by his partner, Nathan Derry; his parents; his daughters, Kayla Hawotte and Meagan (Matt) Mull; his sister, Leslie Lindeman; and one granddaughter; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jeffrey T. "Jeff" Hawotte and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jeff Hawotte as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
