SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of David N. "Dave" Baker of East Moline, who passed away on February 3, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Dave Baker was born to Thurman and Charlotte Robbins Baker in Andersonville, Indiana on April 4, 1932; he married Dorothy A. Newkirk in Connersville, Indiana on November 3, 1956; he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, retiring as a major from the Air National Guard; and

WHEREAS, Dave Baker worked as a transportation management specialist for the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring after 22 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Dave Baker was a member of the Northcrest Calvary Baptist Church in Moline; and

WHEREAS, Dave Baker was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Marion Baker and Irvin Baker; and his sister, Esther Emerson; and

WHEREAS, Dave Baker is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy "Dottie" Baker; his children, Gregory (fiancée, Diane Medearis) Baker and Beth (Dave) Nowack; his grandsons, Brett Nowack and Brian Nowack; his great-grandchildren, Jace, Xander, and Emery; his brother, Gerald (Patricia) Baker; his sisters, Janet Feightner and Jeannie Cox; his extended family members, James Baker and Penelope Baker; and his dog, Toby; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of David N. "Dave" Baker and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David Baker as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
