| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Edward L. "Ed" Freebern of East | 4 | | Moline, who passed away on February 1, 2024; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ed Freebern was born to Edward J. and Essie | 6 | | Culley Freebern in Silvis on August 12, 1931; he served in the | 7 | | U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict; he married Nancy Hoexter | 8 | | in Rock Island on April 14, 1956; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ed Freebern worked for the Rock Island Line in | 10 | | his earlier years; he later worked in product development at | 11 | | John Deere, retiring in 1992 after 26 years of service; and | 12 | | WHEREAS, Ed Freebern was a member of the East Moline | 13 | | American Legion Post 227, where he proudly served in the Honor | 14 | | Guard; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ed Freebern had recently participated in an Honor | 16 | | Flight; he was a fan of the Chicago Bears; and | 17 | | WHEREAS, Ed Freebern was preceded in death by his parents | 18 | | and his sister, Margaret Lloyd; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Ed Freebern is survived by his wife; his sons, |

"Ed" Freebern and extend our sincere condolences to | 8 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 9 | | further | 10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 11 | | presented to the family of Ed Freebern as an expression of our | 12 | | deepest sympathy. |
