SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward L. "Ed" Freebern of East Moline, who passed away on February 1, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Ed Freebern was born to Edward J. and Essie Culley Freebern in Silvis on August 12, 1931; he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict; he married Nancy Hoexter in Rock Island on April 14, 1956; and

WHEREAS, Ed Freebern worked for the Rock Island Line in his earlier years; he later worked in product development at John Deere, retiring in 1992 after 26 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Ed Freebern was a member of the East Moline American Legion Post 227, where he proudly served in the Honor Guard; and

WHEREAS, Ed Freebern had recently participated in an Honor Flight; he was a fan of the Chicago Bears; and

WHEREAS, Ed Freebern was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret Lloyd; and

WHEREAS, Ed Freebern is survived by his wife; his sons, Kevin (Wendy) Freebern, Keith (Kathleen) Freebern, and Craig (Jacque) Freebern; his grandchildren, Kyle Freebern, Jenna (Bradley) Johnson, and Kayla Freebern; and his sister, Jane (Mike) Bare; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Edward L. "Ed" Freebern and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ed Freebern as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
