SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to recognize the Earthrise Energy-owned Lincoln Generating Facility on the occasion of being named a Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Site by the Safety Program of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for the past 21 years; and

WHEREAS, OSHA's VPP recognizes employers and workers in the private industry and federal agencies who have implemented effective safety and health management systems and maintain injury and illness rates below the U.S. Bureau of Labor's statistical national averages for their respective industries, and its Star designation is the program's highest level of recognition; and

WHEREAS, The Lincoln Generating Facility is the property of Earthrise Energy, a public benefit corporation (PBC) and an independent power producer with a mission to reduce power sector greenhouse gas emissions faster than ever before; the company acquires, owns, and operates legacy fossil fuel assets and repurposes the transmission infrastructure for renewable energy development projects, bringing them online faster than typical greenfield renewable energy projects; the company has a gas-fired generation capacity of 1.7 gigawatts and a solar development pipeline of more than 2 gigawatts; and

WHEREAS, The Lincoln Generating Facility is a natural gas peaker plant located in Manhattan and operated by Consolidated Asset Management Services (CAMS) employees on behalf of Earthrise Energy, and it is one of five natural gas peaker plants based in Illinois owned by Earthrise Energy; the facility provides 656 megawatts of capacity, delivering important grid reliability services during periods of peak electricity demand; and

WHEREAS, The Lincoln Generating Facility's safety and health management programs met the high quality standards expected of VPP participants, and it was noted by OSHA that the facility leads by example and supports the implementation of continuous improvement; and

WHEREAS, Employees of the Lincoln Generating Facility strive to foster a culture that emphasizes safety and excellence every day, and the facility's successful recertification as a Star Site for over two decades is a direct result of its workers' continued commitment to operational excellence; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the Earthrise Energy-owned Lincoln Generating Facility on being named a Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Site by the Safety Program of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for the past 21 years, and we wish the facility and its staff continued success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Earthrise Energy as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
