SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3recognize the Earthrise Energy-owned Lincoln Generating
4Facility on the occasion of being named a Voluntary Protection
5Program (VPP) Star Site by the Safety Program of the
6Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for the
7past 21 years; and
 
8    WHEREAS, OSHA's VPP recognizes employers and workers in
9the private industry and federal agencies who have implemented
10effective safety and health management systems and maintain
11injury and illness rates below the U.S. Bureau of Labor's
12statistical national averages for their respective industries,
13and its Star designation is the program's highest level of
14recognition; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The Lincoln Generating Facility is the property
16of Earthrise Energy, a public benefit corporation (PBC) and an
17independent power producer with a mission to reduce power
18sector greenhouse gas emissions faster than ever before; the
19company acquires, owns, and operates legacy fossil fuel assets
20and repurposes the transmission infrastructure for renewable
21energy development projects, bringing them online faster than
22typical greenfield renewable energy projects; the company has
23a gas-fired generation capacity of 1.7 gigawatts and a solar

1development pipeline of more than 2 gigawatts; and
 
2    WHEREAS, The Lincoln Generating Facility is a natural gas
3peaker plant located in Manhattan and operated by Consolidated
4Asset Management Services (CAMS) employees on behalf of
5Earthrise Energy, and it is one of five natural gas peaker
6plants based in Illinois owned by Earthrise Energy; the
7facility provides 656 megawatts of capacity, delivering
8important grid reliability services during periods of peak
9electricity demand; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Lincoln Generating Facility's safety and
11health management programs met the high quality standards
12expected of VPP participants, and it was noted by OSHA that the
13facility leads by example and supports the implementation of
14continuous improvement; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Employees of the Lincoln Generating Facility
16strive to foster a culture that emphasizes safety and
17excellence every day, and the facility's successful
18recertification as a Star Site for over two decades is a direct
19result of its workers' continued commitment to operational
20excellence; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the

1Earthrise Energy-owned Lincoln Generating Facility on being
2named a Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Site by the
3Safety Program of the Occupational Safety and Health
4Administration (OSHA) for the past 21 years, and we wish the
5facility and its staff continued success; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to Earthrise Energy as a symbol of our esteem and
8respect.
