| | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to | | 3 | | congratulate the Wendell Phillips High School varsity boys | | 4 | | basketball team, the Wildcats, on winning the 2023-2024 | | 5 | | Illinois High School Association Class 2A State Championship; | | 6 | | and
| | 7 | | WHEREAS, The Wildcats finished with a record of 25 wins | | 8 | | and 9 losses as they defeated the Benton Rangers in the | | 9 | | championship game 54 to 47; and
| | 10 | | WHEREAS, The members of the 2023-2024 Wildcats are Michael | | 11 | | White Jr., Amari Edwards, Lawrence Horton, Elijah Harris, | | 12 | | Jeremiah Benjamin, DeAndre Addison, Ian Williams, Derrick | | 13 | | Brooks, Camarie Richmond, Johnathan Duncan, Phoenix Childs, | | 14 | | and Claude Mpouma; and
| | 15 | | WHEREAS, The Wildcats are coached by Paris Martin, | | 16 | | assisted by Michael Wallace and Khonja Scott, and overseen by | | 17 | | Athletic Director James Daniel IV, Principal Rashad Talley, | | 18 | | and Chicago Public Schools Executive Director of Sports David | | 19 | | Rosengard; therefore, be it
