| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of David Paul Clark, former Fire Chief of | 4 | | the Des Plaines Fire Department, who passed away on January | 5 | | 10, 2025; and | 6 | | WHEREAS, David Clark was born to Robert Lincoln Clark and | 7 | | Mary Rose Clark in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 4, 1938; he served | 8 | | in the U.S. Navy; he resided in Des Plaines for the majority of | 9 | | his life; and | 10 | | WHEREAS, David Clark joined the Des Plaines Fire | 11 | | Department on May 26, 1962, serving as Fire Chief of the Des | 12 | | Plaines Fire Department from 1985 to 1993; while at the helm, | 13 | | he spearheaded professionalizing the fire department; under | 14 | | his leadership, the fire department was transformed into one | 15 | | that emphasized better training and better equipment, | 16 | | increased the minimum man requirements on fire trucks, and led | 17 | | the effort in requiring fire sprinklers in certain types of | 18 | | residential buildings; he retired on September 4, 1993; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, David Clark loved traveling and taking road trips | 20 | | with his wife, Martha; he was an avid reader of history, | 21 | | particularly naval aviation and World War II; he was a | 22 | | lifelong Chicago Bears fan; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, David Clark was committed to his faith and deeply | 2 | | loved his family; he will be remembered for his dedication to | 3 | | his family and his community; and | 4 | | WHEREAS, David Clark was preceded in death by his parents; | 5 | | his daughter, Beatrice (Dan) Todd; and his brothers, Mike | 6 | | (Francine) Clark and Daniel (Maureen) Clark; and | 7 | | WHEREAS, David Clark is survived by his wife of 65 years, | 8 | | Martha Clark; his daughters, Teresa (John) Kasch and Monique | 9 | | Clark; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sister, | 10 | | Patricia (Rich) Truver; and many nieces and nephews; | 11 | | therefore, be it | 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 14 | | David Paul Clark, former Fire Chief of the Des Plaines Fire | 15 | | Department, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | 16 | | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further | 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 18 | | presented to the family of David Clark as an expression of our | 19 | | deepest sympathy. |
