SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of David Paul Clark, former Fire Chief of
4the Des Plaines Fire Department, who passed away on January
510, 2025; and
 
6    WHEREAS, David Clark was born to Robert Lincoln Clark and
7Mary Rose Clark in Honolulu, Hawaii on July 4, 1938; he served
8in the U.S. Navy; he resided in Des Plaines for the majority of
9his life; and
 
10    WHEREAS, David Clark joined the Des Plaines Fire
11Department on May 26, 1962, serving as Fire Chief of the Des
12Plaines Fire Department from 1985 to 1993; while at the helm,
13he spearheaded professionalizing the fire department; under
14his leadership, the fire department was transformed into one
15that emphasized better training and better equipment,
16increased the minimum man requirements on fire trucks, and led
17the effort in requiring fire sprinklers in certain types of
18residential buildings; he retired on September 4, 1993; and
 
19    WHEREAS, David Clark loved traveling and taking road trips
20with his wife, Martha; he was an avid reader of history,
21particularly naval aviation and World War II; he was a
22lifelong Chicago Bears fan; and

1    WHEREAS, David Clark was committed to his faith and deeply
2loved his family; he will be remembered for his dedication to
3his family and his community; and
 
4    WHEREAS, David Clark was preceded in death by his parents;
5his daughter, Beatrice (Dan) Todd; and his brothers, Mike
6(Francine) Clark and Daniel (Maureen) Clark; and
 
7    WHEREAS, David Clark is survived by his wife of 65 years,
8Martha Clark; his daughters, Teresa (John) Kasch and Monique
9Clark; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his sister,
10Patricia (Rich) Truver; and many nieces and nephews;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14David Paul Clark, former Fire Chief of the Des Plaines Fire
15Department, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
16friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of David Clark as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
