HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Mount Prospect Chief of Police John Dahlberg on his retirement; and

WHEREAS, He was sworn in as a Mount Prospect Police Officer on April 1, 1985; he was promoted to Sergeant in 1993, promoted to Commander in 2001, promoted to Deputy Chief in 2003; and on March 20, 2007, he was promoted to Chief of Police; and

WHEREAS, He received training from the Cook County Sheriff's Police Training Academy in 1985 and was the Class President; he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lewis University in 1991 and a Master of Science degree from Lewis University in 2007; and

WHEREAS, In addition, he received training at the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety Police Staff and Command, where he was Class President and received the Franklin M. Kremi Award for Leadership; he also attended the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety Executive Management Program, the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, the Police Executive Research Program Senior Management for Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar; and

WHEREAS, He has received 8 Unit Citations and 10 Department Commendations; he was the Officer of the Year Runner Up in 1986, 1987, and 1988 and was the Officer of the Year in 1990; in 2001, he received the Cook County Sheriff's Law Enforcement Award of Valor in 2001; he received the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety Executive Leadership Award; and he received the Christian Life Church and College of Mount Prospect "Community Hero Award" in 2010; and

WHEREAS, He coordinated with the Mount Prospect Fire Department, local schools, summer youth programs, Special Olympics, landlord workshops, interfaith organizations, the Northwest Alliance on Domestic Violence, and other groups to impact issues that effected local residents; he worked with a variety of local groups to implement and support innovative activities promoting safety in Mount Prospect; and held one-on-one "Chat with the Chief" meetings with residents to hear concerns; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Chief Dahlberg on his retirement and wish him all the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chief John Dahlberg as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
