HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dan Claud "Dan'O" "Dan the Mailman" Belk of Wildwood, who passed away on April 16, 2012; and

WHEREAS, He was born September 18, 1958, in Olympia, Washington and has dedicated his life to making people smile; and

WHEREAS, The United States Navy benefitted by his 22 years of combined active duty and reserve service; he also worked a dedicated 22 years with the United States Postal Service in Grayslake; most of those years were in The Manor, where Dan's life was touched beyond words by the people residing there; and

WHEREAS, He loved the outdoors, where he spent countless hours fishing and hunting; he loved to make people laugh and so many people were blessed by his humor and caring nature; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston Jack Belk and Jimmie Nell Massey; and his brother, Bruce Belk; and

WHEREAS, He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 31 years, Karen (nee Calvino) Belk; the loving father of Rachel Belk, Katie (Terreance) Holley, and Shaun Belk; and brother of his siblings, David Belk, Jimmy Belk, and Christena (Ronald) Rogers; he is also survived by his in-laws, Jim and Connie Calvino and his entire extended family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dan Belk; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dan Belk as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
