HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize the teachers and staff at Greenville Elementary School for their efforts in helping to save the life of Emma Young, a student at the school; and

WHEREAS, Emma Young is a kindergarten student at Greenville Elementary School with a life-threatening medical condition; to ensure her safety at all times, the staff at the school worked diligently to develop an individual emergency plan, named "Code Emma", that enabled all staff members that had contact with Emma to be knowledgeable about her condition and the various equipment needed to monitor her; and

WHEREAS, During an incident in May of 2012, Emma passed out at school while waiting to go inside from recess; thanks to the diligence and great preparedness exhibited by the staff, Emma was quickly attended to and emergency services were summoned; in addition, during the episode, the staff turned on Emma's loop monitor, which enabled doctors to collect the relevant data and make a proper diagnosis of her condition; and

WHEREAS, Thanks to the efforts of the staff at Greenville Elementary School, Emma is receiving the care she needs and is expected to live a normal childhood; and

WHEREAS, The staff members at Greenville Elementary School serves as sterling examples of integrity and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the teachers and staff at Greenville Elementary School for their efforts in helping to save the life of Emma Young, thank them for their great dedication and diligence, and wish them great success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Greenville Elementary School as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
