HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Karina Zabicki DeHayes on the occasion of her election to the position of president of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Karina DeHayes earned her J.D. degree from the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law; she was a member of the Loyola Consumer Law Review and participated in Loyola's Moot Court Program, and received an award for Best Oral Advocate at the regional competition; in 1996, she served as a legal extern to the Honorable George M. Marovich of the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; in March of 2001, she joined Tabet, DiVito, and Rothstein; and

WHEREAS, Karina DeHayes has handled cases involving breach of contract, real estate litigation, statutory and common law, unfair competition and fraud, defamation, golden parachute litigation, breach of fiduciary duty, and professional malpractice; she has been admitted as a member of the Federal Trial Bar for the Northern District of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Karina DeHayes is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and Advocates Society; she also serves as a mentor to many women attorneys through her role with the Women's Bar Association of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, In 2008, Karina DeHayes was named in the Law Bulletin's "40 Under Forty - Illinois attorneys to watch"; for three consecutive years beginning in 2009, she was named an Illinois "Rising Star" by her peers in SuperLawyers Magazine, a distinction reserved for the top 2.5% of Illinois lawyers who are under 40 or in practice for 10 years or less; and

WHEREAS, Karina DeHayes serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Karina Zabicki DeHayes on the occasion of her election to the position of president of the Women's Bar Association of Illinois and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Karina DeHayes as a symbol of our appreciation and respect.
