HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Micki R. Chulick on the occasion of her retirement as the Executive Director of Community Coordinated Child Care after 33 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Micki Chulick is Community Coordinated Child Care's second Executive Director since the agency was founded in 1971; and

WHEREAS, Under Micki Chulick's leadership, Community Coordinated Child Care has expanded from a small staff serving only DeKalb County to a staff of 42 which serves DeKalb, Ogle, Lee, Whiteside, Carroll, and McHenry Counties; she has been instrumental in the creation of new programs serving young children and their families, including the Child and Adult Care Food Program for family child care providers, child care subsidies, the Family Enrichment Program, and the Child Care Resource and Referral program; she is also a strong advocate for child care funding, encourages child care centers to advance in the Illinois Department of Human Services' quality counts-quality rating system, and engages staff and parents in civic involvement; and

WHEREAS, Prior to her tenure at Community Coordinated Child Care, Micki Chulick was responsible for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program at the Family Service Agency in DeKalb; and

WHEREAS, Micki Chulick has served on several gubernatorial committees, including the Governor's Task Force on Child Care, the Governor's Public/Private Child Care Council, and the State Summit Committee on Child Care; she currently serves on the Illinois Department of Human Services Child Care and Development Advisory Council; she serves as Chair of the Department of Children and Family Service Statewide Advisory Council and serves on the Board of Directors of Illinois Action For Children; she also served as a delegate to President Clinton's Summit for America's Future in 1997; and

WHEREAS, Micki Chulick is a member of numerous civic and medical organizations, including the Corporate Compliance Committee of Kishwaukee Community Hospital, the DeKalb County Community Service's Advisory Committee, and the Community Works Committee of the DeKalb County Community Foundation; she formerly served as co-chair of the School District #428 Referendum Committee and was a member of the Kishwaukee Community Hospital Board of Directors, the DeKalb County Community Foundation Board of Directors, and the United Way Advisory Council; and

WHEREAS, Micki Chulick has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades for her service, including the DeKalb County Business Woman of the Year award, the Illinois Federation of Business Women's Woman of the Year Award, the DeKalb United Way Volunteer of the Year Award, the Illinois Association for the Education of Young Children's Advocate of the Year Award, and the Children's Learning Center Friend of the Child Award; and

WHEREAS, Micki Chulick has served as a model of creativity, hard work, integrity, and dedication for early childhood education and the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Micki R. Chulick on the occasion of her retirement, thank her for her many years of service to the people of the State of Illinois, and wish her many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Micki Chulick as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
