HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the staff, students, and faculty of the University of Illinois Laboratory High School in Urbana (Uni High School) on being ranked among the top 1,000 public high schools in the country by Newsweek magazine and The Daily Beast; and

WHEREAS, The University of Illinois Laboratory High School in Urbana (Uni High School) is a public high school on the University of Illinois campus with selective admissions; students apply by submitting an application, SSAT (Secondary Schools Admission Test) scores, recommendations, and more; the school has students in grades 9 through 12, plus a combined "subfreshman" 7th and 8th grade class; and

WHEREAS, Uni High School ranked highest among high schools outside of the Chicago metro region; Uni ranked high nationally in college-preparatory exam scores; and

WHEREAS, The average SAT score for Uni High was 2045, putting the school in 10th place nationally for that category; the average ACT at Uni was 31; Uni tied for sixth place nationally for ACT scores; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate everyone involved at the University of Illinois Laboratory High School on receiving this ranking; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Jeff Walkington, Director of the University of Illinois Laboratory High School, as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
