HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra on its 35th anniversary season and David Danzmayr on being named new music director; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra is the largest performing arts organization serving the Chicago Southland region, and is beginning its 35th anniversary season of presenting and performing compelling, professional, symphonic music; and

WHEREAS, David Danzmayr, a renowned international guest conductor and prize winner of the prestigious International Malko Conducting Competition, has been named the new music director and conductor of the award-winning Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra; and

WHEREAS, David Danzmayr serves as music director, conductor, and guest tutor for the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute and fosters international relationships with the musical community; and

WHEREAS, David Danzmayr celebrates his inaugural season as music director and conductor during the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra's 2012-2013 season; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra provides a major attraction to the region and fosters collaborations with internationally-acclaimed musicians, guest artists, and the community; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra seeks to present and develop an ever expanding repertoire, from Baroque to Contemporary, for a rich variety of orchestral music and entertainment; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra provides multiple engagement opportunities for seniors, adults, and youth to appreciate, experience, and enjoy live symphonic music; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra strives to create a unified Southland region through the presentation, performance, and advocacy of musical art; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra on its 35th anniversary and David Danzmayr on being named the orchestra's new music director; and be it further

RESOLVED, That s suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra and David Danzmayr as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
