HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Michael J. Waller
4on the occasion of his retirement as the Lake County State's
5Attorney; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Michael J. Waller received his bachelor of arts
7degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1970, and his juris
8doctorate degree from the University of Illinois in 1973,
9graduating with honors as a member of the Order of the Coif;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Michael J. Waller served as a Lake County
12Assistant State's Attorney from 1973 to 1979, and from 1979 to
131986, he was in private practice in Waukegan; he returned to
14the Lake County State's Attorney's Office as chief deputy in
151986; he was appointed State's Attorney of Lake County in 1990,
16and then elected State's Attorney in 1992, and has served to
17the present in that position; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Michael J. Waller currently serves as president of
19the NICASA and has been past president of the Illinois State's
20Attorney's Association; he serves as chairman of the Lake
21County Domestic Violence Council, the Lake County Juvenile
22Justice Council, and the Lake County Criminal Justice

1Coordinating Committee; he is a member of the Lake County Bar
2Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the
3National District Attorneys Association; he served as an
4appointed member of the Illinois Criminal Justice Information
5Authority from 1991 to 2004, served as an appointed member of
6Governor Ryan's Commission on Capital Punishment, and is
7currently an appointed member of the Capital Punishment Reform
8Study Committee; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Michael J. Waller resides in Waukegan with his
10wife, Circuit Court Judge Jane Drew Waller, and his two sons,
11Patrick and John, and two grandsons, Patrick and Benjamin;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we congratulate Michael J. Waller on his retirement from his
16position as Lake County State's Attorney and we thank him for
17his service to the people of Lake County and the State of
18Illinois and wish him well in his future endeavors; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to Michael J. Waller as an expression of our respect
22and esteem.
