HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Gary L. Clayton on his 25 years of dedicated service as the chief executive officer of the Illinois Association of Realtor; and

WHEREAS, Gary L. Clayton is a native of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; he was born on December 8, 1948; his parents are Howard (deceased) and Juanita Clayton; and

WHEREAS, Gary L. Clayton received his elementary and high school education in Poplar Bluff; he has an undergraduate degree in political science from Southeast Missouri State University and a master's degree in social justice administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Gary L. Clayton serves on the National Association of Realtors (NAR) board of directors and is the association executive appointed to the NAR Executive Committee; he is vice chair of the Realtors Property Resource Advisory Board and past chair of the NAR Association Executives Committee; and

WHEREAS, In 2011, Gary L. Clayton was awarded the prestigious national William R. Magel Award of Excellence, which honors an individual who has truly excelled in his or her role as an association executive of a local or state Realtors association; and

WHEREAS, Gary L. Clayton holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership as well as the Realtor Association Certified Executive (RCE) designation from the National Association of Realtors; and

WHEREAS, Before coming to IAR, Gary L. Clayton served for 8 years as director of the Illinois Department of Registration and Education; prior to that, he was deputy director of the Illinois Department of Law Enforcement's Internal Investigation Division and a postal inspector for the U.S. Postal Service in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Through Gary L. Clayton's vision, leadership, and hard work, the Illinois Association of Realtors is one of the most highly respected organizations at the State capitol and is a trusted and consistent voice at the capitol on issues relating to property ownership, the real estate industry, and private property rights; and

WHEREAS, Gary L. Clayton has been married to his loving wife, Marcia, for 34 years and they are the proud parents of Skip (wife Laurie), Bill (wife Sarah), Mark, and Jim and grandparents to Carly and Halle; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Gary L. Clayton for his stellar work as chief executive officer of the Illinois Association of Realtors and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Gary L. Clayton as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
