HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Thomas P. Borchert on his retirement as City Manager of the City of Elmhurst; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Borchert began his career with the City of Elmhurst in 1971, when he served as the Assistant Director of Public Works; he became the Director of Public Works in 1973, and the Assistant City Manager in 1981; in March of 1984 he became the City Manager; and

WHEREAS, He is a Credentialed Manager and a registered Professional Engineer with the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at Valparaiso University and completed additional course work at Northwestern University, Midwest College of Engineering, the College of DuPage, ICMA University, and attended CEU workshops; and

WHEREAS, He has served on numerous boards and agencies, including the International City Management Association, the Metropolitan Section of the Illinois City Management Association, the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce, the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, and the Elmhurst City Centre; and

WHEREAS, He has served as Director on DuPage Communications Board, Board Director of the Community Bank of Elmhurst, past member of the Young Life Committee of Eastern DuPage, and as a member and Elder of the Yorkfield Presbyterian Church in Elmhurst; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Thomas Borchert on his retirement and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Thomas Borchert as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
