HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Linda Jackson on the occasion of her 20 years of dedicated service on the Glendale Heights Village Board, of which 10 years served as the Glendale Heights Village President; and

WHEREAS, Linda Jackson has been a resident of Glendale Heights for 37 years; she was elected to serve as a trustee on the Glendale Heights Village Board in 1991; she was re-elected to the position in 1995 and 1999; in 2001, she was elected to the position of Village President, with subsequent re-election bids in 2005 and 2009; she is the longest serving public official on the Glendale Heights Village Board and the longest serving Village President in Glendale Heights; and

WHEREAS, During her career, Linda Jackson has served on numerous village committees and commissions; she currently serves on the International Day Committee, the Charity Classic Golf Committee, the Historical Committee, the Special Events Commission, the Christmas Sharing Committee, the Golf Course Committee, the Government Agency Partnership, and the Senior Citizen Council; she has also played an integral role in the development and improvement of numerous public buildings and parks within the Village of Glendale Heights, including Camera Park, the Glendale Heights Aquatic Center, the Glendale Heights Sports Hub, Veterans Memorial Park, the Glendale Lakes Golf Club and Banquet Facility, and the Glendale Heights Center for Senior Citizens, among many others; and

WHEREAS, Linda Jackson is a member of the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, the Glendale Heights Jr. Woman's Club, the Glendale Heights Chamber of Commerce, the Neighborhood Watch, and the Glendale Heights V.F.W. Post 2377 Ladies Auxiliary; and

WHEREAS, Linda Jackson was the proud recipient of the Illinois Woman of Achievement Award in 2000 and the Outstanding Patriotism Award from the State of Illinois VFW in 2006; and

WHEREAS, Linda Jackson serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Linda Jackson on the occasion of her 20 years of dedicated service on the Glendale Heights Village Board, of which 10 years served as the Glendale Heights Village President, and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Linda Jackson as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
