HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the staffs of Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Hope Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of the institutions; and

WHEREAS, The celebration, "Salute 2011", will be held on April 9, 2011 at the Field Museum in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Chicago's very own CBS television news anchor Bill Kurtis will emcee the event; former Chicago Bears player and coach Mike Ditka will deliver the keynote address; and

WHEREAS, The hospital opened its doors on March 22, 1961, as a six-story building with fewer than 200 patient beds; by 1966, the hospital was expanding with the addition of three new floors; today the hospital has 695 beds and is a teaching and research institution, with more than 1,000 physicians and 5,500 associates; and

WHEREAS, In 2006, the institution launched a 10-year strategic plan to expand the work of both Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Hope Children's Hospital, with a vision to become one of the very best adult and pediatric hospitals in the country; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate everyone involved with the anniversary celebration of Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Hope Children's Hospital and wish them the very best in their future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to a representative of Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Hope Children's Hospital as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
