HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Judy Beck on her 32 years of service to the Glenview Park District Board of Commissioners and on her retirement from the Board; and

WHEREAS, Currently she is the President of the Glenview Park District Board of Commissioners; she has been elected five times to the board; during her time of service park acreage went from 465 to 735 acres, six new facilities were opened, three new parks were opened, the pools were renovated, and the struggling Glenview Farmer's market became a viable and vital enterprise; and

WHEREAS, She became involved in Glenview when she moved there in 1973 and her sons were attending the local public schools; she was a former science teacher, she was a Charter Member of the Grove Heritage Association, and she helped to develop the curriculum that thousands of District 34 children and others have enjoyed as part of the Grove experience for more than two decades, learning about local history, native cultures, and the outdoors; she was a featured speaker at the most recent annual District 34 Parents as Partners seminar; and

WHEREAS, She became an active and valuable member of the Glenview League of Women Voters in 1973, and has served in numerous local and State leadership positions; she has recently been working on a committee charged with writing guidance from the Glenview League to the U.S. League of Women Voters for an upcoming national convention; and

WHEREAS, She has worked in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Chicago office for the last 25 years, where she is the Lake Michigan Manager and entrusted with protecting one of the most precious natural resources in our nation; and

WHEREAS, She has served on the Glenview Village Natural Resource Commission since its inception; she was also appointed by Glenview Village President Kerry Cummings to be a citizen representative on the Storm Water Task Force, which met intensively and made important recommendations for managing water and reducing flooding throughout Glenview; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Judy Beck on her retirement from the Glenview Park District Board and thank her for her many years of service to the community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Judy Beck as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
