HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Association for Individual Development on serving the people of the State of Illinois for 50 years; and

WHEREAS, In 1961, the Association for Individual Development opened its doors to 8 children with disabilities; for 50 years the Association for Individual Development has provided services to individuals who have developmental, physical and/or mental disabilities, those who have suffered a trauma, and those at risk; and

WHEREAS, All of the Association's clients have access to vital, life enriching services through early intervention; developmental therapy; respite care; permanent, affordable housing; developmental and vocational training; job placement and on-the-job coaching services; crisis intervention; victims services; mental health treatment; behavioral intervention; community education; and advocacy; and

WHEREAS, Serving more than 5,400 clients in 20 programs operating in 45 communities, AID is a leading provider of services that address the unique needs of individuals throughout every stage of their lives; a person-centered approach coupled with innovative practices ensures the highest level of accomplishment; and

WHEREAS, AID was officially incorporated on June 19, 1961 and will have celebrations at 3 of its major locations on June 15, 2011; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Association for Individual Development on its anniversary and wish it continued success for years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Association for Individual Development as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
