HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Carolyn Domineck of Newton for her many accomplishments and congratulate her for the dedication of Washington Street in the City of Newton in her honor; and

WHEREAS, Carolyn Domineck, who is lovingly known as "Miss D", was born in 1942; she is a long-time resident of Newton; and

WHEREAS, Miss D has had a long and distinguished career in music education and marching band leadership in the Jasper County Community Unit #1 school district and St. Thomas Grade School in Newton; and

WHEREAS, Miss D and her band students won numerous awards over her 30 years of teaching; and

WHEREAS, Thousands of students not only gained musical skills, but developed pride, confidence, and character while under Miss D's tutelage; and

WHEREAS, The City of Newton will dedicate Washington Street in honor of Miss D and her many accomplishments during a ceremony on May 11, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Miss D serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the City of Newton, Jasper County, and the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Carolyn Domineck for her many accomplishments, congratulate her for the dedication of Washington Street in the City of Newton in her honor, and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Carolyn Domineck and the City of Newton as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
