HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, On March 24, 2011, Teamsters Joint Council 25
3celebrated its 100th year of service, dedication, and
4representation to the hardworking men and women of Illinois;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Since March 24, 1911, Teamsters Joint Council 25
7has represented millions of members with nearly 70 local union
8affiliates throughout the Chicago metropolitan area; as an
9extension of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the
10organization has brought powerful representation to working
11families in a broad range of industries, from truck drivers,
12haulers, and transporters to meatpackers, bakery workers,
13funeral directors, health care providers, grocers, garage
14attendants, pharmacists, valets, zookeepers, firefighters,
15police officers, court clerks, and beyond; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Over the last century, Teamsters Joint Council 25
17has rallied its union brothers and sisters to improve working
18conditions for men and women throughout Illinois and the United
19States of America, helping to establish equal compensation for
20equal work, to secure reasonable wages, pensions, and health
21and welfare benefits, to fight against unfair labor practices
22and afford a resonant voice for American workers; and

1    WHEREAS, For 100 years, compassionate and benevolent labor
2leaders have helped Teamsters Joint Council 25 deliver the best
3representation possible to Teamster affiliates and members,
4including past Presidents William A. Neer, Leslie G. Goudie,
5Frank Brown, Ray Schoessling, and Louis F. Peick, whose actions
6have established and sustained a vibrant labor community in and
7around Chicago for generations; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The current Executive Board of Teamsters Joint
9Council 25, under the leadership of President John T. Coli, is
10ensuring the Joint Council will remain a role model for
11organization, representation, and charity in Illinois;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we commend and congratulate Teamsters Joint Council 25 on its
16100th anniversary and for its outstanding and meritorious
17service to the people of the State of Illinois; and we express
18the hope that additional centuries of representation may
19follow; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to President Coli and the Executive Board of
22Teamsters Joint Council 25.
