HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Boy Scout Troop 3707, of the Allen Metropolitan CME Church in Chicago, for the example they are setting in their community; and

WHEREAS, The young men of Troop 3707 have shown a love for their community by participating in neighborhood clean-up projects in the 9th and 34th wards of the City of Chicago and by motivating others in the community to support or join their troop; and

WHEREAS, These young men have had exceptional grades in school, with over 96% of the troops earning A's and B's on their midterm report cards; and

WHEREAS, Troop members participated in, and placed 3rd, in the 11th annual Pinewood Derby, hosted by the Chicago Auto Show in February of 2011; and they represented Allen Metropolitan CME Church in 2 parades, the 41st annual Jackie Robinson Parade and the 82nd annual Bud Billiken Parade; and

WHEREAS, They received recognition from the Chicago Police Department C.A.P.S. officer, Commander Ronald Holt; and

WHEREAS, Because of their example, troop enrollment increased by 10% in August of 2011; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Boy Scout Troop 3707 on being an example to other young men in their community and shining as Boy Scouts in both word and deed; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Boy Scout Troop 3707 as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
