HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kyle C. Matthews of Chicago, who passed away on October 30, 2011; and

WHEREAS, He was born on May 30, 1979 in Chicago to Kyle Smith and Dedra Matthews; and

WHEREAS, He grew up in Chicago and Oak Park; he attended Whittier Elementary School, Emerson Junior High, and graduated from Oak Park/River Forest High School, where he excelled in academics and was the star running back of the football team; and

WHEREAS, He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of Reverend Bertha Stokes; and

WHEREAS, He worked for the United States Postal Service for many years; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Charles Matthews and Fred Smith; and his cousin, Michael McClain; and

WHEREAS, Kyle Matthews is survived by his daughters, Treviona (Lashon), Kayla (Kahlonii), and Jada (Amber); his mother, Dedra (Ulysses); his father, Kyle (Elaine); his grandmother, Nellie Matthews; his grandfather, Edward Phillips; his brothers, Frederick Matthews and Ja'Quory Smith; his sisters, Keisha White, Tanya Eiland, and Faysia MacArthur; his uncle, Bradley Keith Phillips; his great uncle, Donald L. Anthony; his special uncles, Dennis Nichol and Reginald "Akkeem" Berry; his aunt, Nijela Kimberly Phillips; his special aunts, Brenda Burris and Janice McClain; his nieces, Fhaysia and Madesyn; and a host of cousins and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Kyle Matthews; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kyle Matthews as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
