HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate James Dykstra of Elgin on the occasion of his retirement from the Streamwood Fire Department on October 25, 2011, after over 30 years of service; and

WHEREAS, James Dykstra earned his Associate in Applied Science degree from Thornton Community College in December of 1980; and

WHEREAS, James Dykstra was hired as a career firefighter for the Streamwood Fire Department on September 21, 1981; he was a founding member of the Department's Fire Investigation Team; and

WHEREAS, James Dykstra earned numerous State of Illinois Certifications during his career; on April 23, 1990, he was awarded the "Firefighter III" and "Fire Apparatus Engineer" certificates; on June 25, 1990, he earned "HazMat First Responder Operations" status; on June 12, 1990, he became a "Fire Prevention Officer"; on November 30, 1990, he earned the "Fire Investigator" designation; on March 21, 1991, he completed "Provisional Fire Officer Instructor I"; on January 27, 2003, he received "Certified Fire Officer I"; and

WHEREAS, On February 28, 1999, James Dykstra earned the "Disaster Service Medal" from the Streamwood Fire Department for participating in a structure fire and for the 1999 microburst; and

WHEREAS, James Dykstra and his wife, Sharee, have one son, Michael; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate James Dykstra on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to James Dykstra as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
