HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate James Dykstra of
4Elgin on the occasion of his retirement from the Streamwood
5Fire Department on October 25, 2011, after over 30 years of
6service; and
 
7    WHEREAS, James Dykstra earned his Associate in Applied
8Science degree from Thornton Community College in December of
91980; and
 
10    WHEREAS, James Dykstra was hired as a career firefighter
11for the Streamwood Fire Department on September 21, 1981; he
12was a founding member of the Department's Fire Investigation
13Team; and
 
14    WHEREAS, James Dykstra earned numerous State of Illinois
15Certifications during his career; on April 23, 1990, he was
16awarded the "Firefighter III" and "Fire Apparatus Engineer"
17certificates; on June 25, 1990, he earned "HazMat First
18Responder Operations" status; on June 12, 1990, he became a
19"Fire Prevention Officer"; on November 30, 1990, he earned the
20"Fire Investigator" designation; on March 21, 1991, he
21completed "Provisional Fire Officer Instructor I"; on January
2227, 2003, he received "Certified Fire Officer I"; and

1    WHEREAS, On February 28, 1999, James Dykstra earned the
2"Disaster Service Medal" from the Streamwood Fire Department
3for participating in a structure fire and for the 1999
4microburst; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Dykstra and his wife, Sharee, have one son,
6Michael; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we congratulate James Dykstra on the occasion of his retirement
10and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to James Dykstra as a symbol of our esteem and
14respect.
