HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, In 1962, Robert D. Stuart, Jr., and former Lake County Republican Chairman Robert Milton founded the Lake County Republican Federation to promote Republican interests in Lake County; and

WHEREAS, Since that time, the Federation has helped countless candidates, elected officials, volunteers, and voters by faithfully providing the main office, staff, and financial support for the Lake County Republican Party; the Lake County Republican Federation works closely with the Lake County Republican Central Committee to motivate the electorate to vote Republican through "bottom-up" politics; and

WHEREAS, Voter and volunteer services include: mailing sample ballots and voter guides, distributing candidate information, preventing voter fraud, and providing an ongoing and visible presence for Republican activities in Lake County by underwriting a permanent storefront office with full-time dedicated staff and volunteers; and

WHEREAS, The Federation supports Republican candidates in Lake County by providing the necessary infrastructure at the local level; the organization assists candidates and elected officials by distributing campaign signs and literature, providing work and storage space at county headquarters, coordinating volunteers, educating voters, advertising countywide Republican events, and hosting 2 semi-annual countywide dinners which showcase Republican candidates and the Republican agenda; and

WHEREAS, In celebration of 50 years of service to the Lake County GOP, the Lake County Republican Federation will host its 50th Anniversary Spring Gala on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Marriott's Lincolnshire Resort; Federation co-founder Robert D. Stuart, Jr., 95 years young, plans to be at the event to help mark this milestone; his son, Alexander D. Stuart, currently chairs the organization; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Lake County Republican Federation on its 50th anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Lake County Republican Federation as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
