2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robert Denver "Denny" Brewer of Herrin,
4who passed away on March 10, 2012; and
5    WHEREAS, He was born December 6, 1946, in Herrin, the son
6of Robert N. and Billie (Childers) Brewer; he married Juli
7Maragni on June 9, 1991, in Miami; and
8    WHEREAS, He started working for his father at the age of 9,
9washing dishes while standing on a milk crate at New Era Dairy;
10he continued working for his father his entire adult life;
11together, they opened restaurants (Family Fun, Prime Time,
12Shenanigan's) and built Best Inns Motels Corporation; he
13immortalized his father's legacy by forming the Robert N.
14Brewer Family Foundation; although neither achieved higher
15than a high school education, they enabled more than 434
16students the opportunity to obtain college degrees; and
17    WHEREAS, He was a Master Mason and very proud of his
18accomplishment; he enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors;
19he especially enjoyed talking about cars and hot rods with his
20brother, Dan, and his good friends LeRoy, Shane, Shawn, Buddy,
21and other gearheads; in recent years, Denver spent time
22enjoying the solitude of country life, rescuing needy animals

1and raising miniature donkeys; and
2    WHEREAS, Robert Brewer is survived by his wife, Juli
3Brewer; his son, Robert Dwight Brewer; his daughter, Dawn
4Heather Brewer; his son, Forrest Lee Simmons; his
5grandchildren, Christopher Brewer, Madison Brewer, and Morgan
6Brewer; his brother, Dan N. Brewer and his fiancee Jane Jones;
7his sister, Marie Delaney; and his multiple four-footed, furry
8children; therefore, be it
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11his family and friends, the passing of Robert Brewer; and be it
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Robert Brewer as a symbol of our
15sincere sympathy.
