SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of L. Eugene Striegel of Normal, who passed away on February 27, 2011; and

WHEREAS, L. Eugene Striegel was born on December 21, 1935, in Bloomington; he was the son of Louis E. and Catherine Kirkwood Striegel; he married Mary Kaye Neill on September 7, 1957, in Bloomington; and

WHEREAS, L. Eugene Striegel was a 1953 graduate of Trinity High School and a 1958 graduate of Florida State University; and

WHEREAS, L. Eugene Striegel served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, L. Eugene Striegel was the founding partner of Striegel Knobloch and Company in Bloomington; he was also a board member at Commerce Bank; and

WHEREAS, L. Eugene Striegel was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and Epiphany Catholic Church; he was also a longtime member of the Bloomington Country Club; and

WHEREAS, L. Eugene Striegel was an avid golfer and a die-hard Florida State Seminole football fan; and

WHEREAS, L. Eugene Striegel was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Patrick "Jack" Striegel; and

WHEREAS, L. Eugene Striegel is survived by his wife, Mary Kaye; his daughters, Teresa Striegel and Stacy Striegel; and his grandchildren, Henry Hickman and Lillian Hickman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of L. Eugene Striegel; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of L. Eugene Striegel as an expression of our sympathy.
