SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Roger William Grandt of Arlington
4Heights, who passed away on January 20, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Roger Grandt was born on September 29, 1925, in
6Arlington Heights; his parents were Charles F. and Martha (nee
7Neumann) Grandt; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Roger Grandt served his country with pride and
9distinction as a member of the United States Navy during World
10War II; he was a member of the Arlington Heights American
11Legion Merle Guild Post #208 and Arlington Heights VFW Post
12#981; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Roger Grandt was the owner of Grandt's Super Shell
14station in Arlington Heights for over 50 years; Grandt's Super
15Shell was well known throughout his community for the 15-foot
16long rocket on the station's canopy; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Roger Grandt was a 3rd (of current 5th) generation
18member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, where he was an active
19member; he was also a founding member of the Lutheran Laymen's
20League (LLL), chairman of the Trustees, chairman of the School
21Board, and a member of the mission that founded St. Peter

1Lutheran Church in Middleburg, South Africa; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Roger Grandt was preceded in death by his son,
3David Grandt; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Roger Grandt is survived by his wife of 60 years,
5Geraldine (nee Marr); his children, Craig (Deborah) Grandt,
6Tracey (George) Surprenant; his daughter-in-law, Christine
7Grandt; his grandchildren, Scott and Todd Grandt, Nicole (John)
8Massouras, Mandy Grandt, Ashley (Steven) Hubbell, Allison
9Grandt, and Jessica, Grant (Danielle), and Geoffrey
10Surprenant; his great-grandchildren, Brooke, Emma, Kate, Jake,
11and Baby Hubbell; his brother, Wilbert Grandt; and his
12stepbrother, Bob Bentz; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15his family and friends, the passing of Roger William Grandt;
16and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Roger Grandt as an expression of our
19sympathy.
