SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mark Alan Darnell of Benton, Louisiana, formerly of Akin, who passed away on May 5, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Mark Darnell was born on April 21, 1946, in Akin; he was the son of Carl F. "Pat" Darnell and Dana (Marquis) Darnell; he was a graduate of Benton High School; and

WHEREAS, Mark Darnell served his country with pride and distinction as a member of the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, Mark Darnell loved horses and worked in the thoroughbred horse industry for many years in many capacities; and

WHEREAS, Mark Darnell was preceded in death by his loving companion, Louise Fricks; his parents; his sister, Lois Mae Andriano; and his brothers, Carl Dean Darnell, Bill Darnell, and Jesse Darnell; and

WHEREAS, Mark Darnell is survived by his brothers, Donald Darnell, Ronald Darnell, Jimmy Darnell, and Phil Darnell; his sister, Edna Williams; his loving companion's daughter, Tracy (John) Thadford; his "grandchildren", Kami and Ashlyn Lodwig; and his many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Mark Alan Darnell; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mark Darnell as an expression of our sympathy.
