SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Betty Lou Knight of Elvaston, who passed
4away on June 26, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, She was born on May 31, 1930, in Keokuk, Iowa; her
6parents were Lily Florilla (Davis) Stark and John Stark; she
7spent much of her childhood in Kentucky with her grandmother,
8Bertha Bell (Baird) Davis, before returning to Keokuk, where
9she attended Keokuk High School; and
 
10    WHEREAS, On February 4, 1949, she was united in marriage to
11Bill Knight; and
 
12    WHEREAS, She was a homemaker and also worked part-time at
13Jo's Swap Shop in Carthage; she was active in her church,
14Elvaston Presbyterian Church; she volunteered with the Cub
15Scouts and served as a Gray Lady at Memorial Hospital in
16Carthage; she enjoyed spending time with her family, her pets,
17gardening, cooking, dancing, playing bridge, and golfing; and
 
18    WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her parents; her
19grandparents; and her brother, John "Buster" Stark; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Betty Lou Knight is survived by her husband, Bill;

1her sons, Bill (Terry) Knight Jr. and Tracy (Sharon) Knight;
2and her grandson, Russell Baker; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
4ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
5her family and friends, the passing of Betty Lou Knight; and be
6it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Betty Lou Knight as a symbol of our
9sincere sympathy.
