SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gary Wendell Poynor of Benton, who passed
4away on September 2, 2011; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gary Poynor was born on July 10, 1940, in Hamilton
6County; he was the son of Loren and Wilma (Nalley) Poynor; he
7married the love of his life, the former Linda Kay Evans, on
8July 18, 1959; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Gary Poynor was a concrete finisher and
10contractor; he was the owner and operator of Poynor Concrete;
11he also formerly served as a business agent for the OP and CMIA
12and worked for the J.W. Reynolds Monument Company as a sales
13representative; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gary Poynor was a member of the Oddfellows Charity
15Lodge in Benton, where he served as Noble Grand; he was also a
16member of the Masonic and Oddfellows Cemetery Board in Benton
17and the New Life Church of God in Benton; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gary Poynor enjoyed restoring antique automobiles
19in his later years; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gary Poynor was preceded in death by his parents;

1his loving wife, Linda; his stepfather, Joe Carroll; his
2brothers, Richard and Paul Poynor; and his sister, Melba
3Higgerson; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Gary Poynor is survived by his children, Steve
5Poynor and his wife, Tammy, and Rebecca Wallace and her
6husband, David; his grandchildren, Larry Levault, Jared
7Westerland, Tyler, Joshua, and Alyssa Poynor, Bethany,
8Madison, Savannah Grace, and Max Wallace; his sister, Mary
9Lampley; his half-brother, Jim Carroll; his
10great-granddaughter, Jayda Kay Kind; his special niece, Rhonda
11Trusty; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
14his family and friends, the passing of Gary Wendell Poynor; and
15be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Gary Poynor as an expression of our
18sympathy.
