SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dolores Stephan of Arlington Heights, who passed away on September 3, 2011; and

WHEREAS, She was born August 14, 1929, in Point Marion, Pennsylvania, to Anthony and Elizabeth (nee Politano) Rivoli; she attended South Hills High School and graduated from Pittsburgh Business School; and

WHEREAS, She began working at the Wheeling Township office in 1974; she served 6 terms as the township assessor from 1981 to 2005, and during that time she especially enjoyed making house calls to homebound senior citizens and those with disabilities; she also worked as a realtor since 1981, most recently with Prudential Starck Realtors; and

WHEREAS, She was actively involved at St. Edna Catholic Church, teaching religion education and serving on various committees; she was passionately involved in the Republican Party, and campaigned for various candidates; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Ernie; as well as her siblings, Rose Piluso, Norma Nash, and Tony, Gilbert, and Armand Rivoli; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Stephan is survived by her children, Maria E. Manning and Linda T. (Tom) Karch; her grandchildren, Ryan Manning, and Justin and Lukas Karch; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Dolores Stephan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dolores Stephan as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
